Millie Mae
Millie Mae is a photographer working across portrait, editorial, and personal documentary. Her work is grounded in observation and shaped by a desire to photograph people and places with meaning and intent.
She holds a Bachelor of Science with a major in Environmental Science. This background informs her approach to photography, bringing an environmental and sustainability lens to how she works and what she chooses to document.
Millie’s personal and documentary projects focus on what holds meaning for her, people, environment, and the realities that are often difficult to see or easy to overlook. She is drawn to long-form projects and slower ways of working, allowing photographs to develop through time rather than direction.
Her work has been exhibited in Weathered Sheds of the Northern Rivers (2025). She was awarded Highly Commended, People category, Photographer of the Year 2025, and selected for the 2025 Head On Photo Festival exhibition. Millie holds a Diploma of Freelance Photography (2009, Cengage Education) and continues with self-directed practice.
Through her practice, Millie seeks to create work that is considered, honest, and meaningful, with a sense of responsibility to both subject and environment.
